$600, and it’s nearly perfect. The AC doesn’t work, but other than that it’s flawless, albeit messy. Just a 2wd, unfortunately, but still. This is my fourth car and it has twice the cylinders of all the others, so that’s cool. It’s comparable to the Soul speed- wise, but I suspect that the suspension is made of noodles. I’ll do a full review of it later, but as of now I give it a solid 5/7 overall.

These are very durable and hold up nicely. Can’t say they drive great, but you won’t have any issues buying parts or taking care of it.

Based on what I can see, it’s ~1997. How many miles are on it? I replaced all the shocks on mine at 120k because it was hilariously bad.

Sheesh - that’s a bargain, nice job!
And yes, the suspension is made of noodles, so it sounds like everything is working “properly” there.

I hope you get many enjoyable miles out of it :o)
Bilstein shocks might help the suspension a bit, and don’t use Firestone tires :p (sorry, I had to)

Pretty hard to kill. I think it has the old 5.0L so parts are easy and potentially affordable to source. Good buy.

and when all done. you can remove the rear and sell it to a jeeper for $200 and the body to a junk yard for $300

My parents had one of that generation and they put like a million miles on it. It had problems with the diff and driveshaft, but it was still a solid truck.

Yeah 8.8 with discs are a thing.
If I didn’t have a 9” I paid a butt load for I go that route.

Good get. Better than a beat HHR.
Pro tip: If you ever have to rent a trailer from Uhaul, don’t tell them you’re towing with this car. They are still mad about the firestone thing.

About 170k, so sounds like it’s due for an upgrade. I’ll probably wait until after the Gambler to decide what I want to do with it in the end, though.

That’s an Explorer, isn't it? I recall Ford sold them here for a few years before they bought Land Rover. A used car dealer near me took one in as a trade in. A year later it was still sitting there. After another year it was still there. It began Year 3 before vanishing. Ford haven't sold anything like that since.

Any running car for less than $750 is a deal. Awesome purchase.

Wow, I forgot they put that front end on that body. Had a first year Explorer with the flat front end and put almost 200k miles on it. Did have to replace transmission at 90k, but just shocks and a muffler otherwise.

Nice! We had a 96 V8/AWD explorer as the family truckster when I was a kid. It was the vehicle I learned to drive on.
